How to brake inline skates

1. Runouts: When there are soft surfaces like grass on either side of the skating track, you can skate onto them to slow down. This method requires attention to sudden changes in speed to prevent loss of control.

2. Wall Stop: Skate towards a wall or any fixed object, using your arms to cushion the impact. Suitable for lower speeds; the key is learning to use your arms for cushioning.

3. Windbraking: Fully extend your arms, like billowing sails, using the wind to control speed. This method is more for speed control than emergency braking.

4. Using Brakes: A basic braking method using the brakes that come with your inline skates. Suitable for various speeds, it helps maintain balance, control the range of motion, and warns others.

5. V-Beat: At low speeds, bring your heels or toes together in a V-shape to brake. This may cause the skater to fall in the direction of travel, requiring a body tilt to compensate.

6. Advanced Braking Techniques: Tstop and Toedrag Tstop: One foot drags behind, almost perpendicular to the gliding foot, using the wheels to provide friction for braking. Toedrag: Similar to Tstop, but only dragging one front wheel. It allows for more freedom of dragging in an arc and better control of steering. Both methods are suitable for high-speed braking, but attention should be paid to wheel wear.

These are the main braking methods in inline skating. Learning one or two braking methods is crucial for mastering inline skating. In actual practice, please choose the appropriate braking method based on your own abilities and skating speed, and ensure safety.
