The Most Effective Wheel Replacing Method
1. Number each wheel and mark it.
2. When swapping wheels, it's recommended to swap wheel #1 on your left foot with wheel #3 on your right foot. Ideally, also swap the inside and outside of the wheels (reverse the direction). Following this rule, swap wheel #2 on your left foot with wheel #4 on your right foot, then swap wheel #3 on your left foot with wheel #1 on your right foot, and finally swap wheel #4 on your left foot with wheel #2 on your right foot. Note that this wheel swapping only needs to be done once every two weeks to one month.
Adjusting Roller Wheel Height
High-end roller skates require an adjustment pad when mounting the wheels on the frame. This allows you to adjust the wheel height to suit various sports.
Bearing Maintenance
If bearings become dusty, clean them with a dry cloth or an old toothbrush. Since most bearings are maintenance-free and the sealing cap cannot be removed, these bearings should never be lubricated externally. External oil will easily attract dust during skating, and over time, dust will enter the bearing, causing damage. For professional speed skating bearings, please have them maintained by a professional roller skating shop; do not attempt to disassemble them yourself.
Bearing Replacement: Use a roller skate-specific hex wrench to remove the bearing. Wipe the hub clean with a dry cloth. When reinstalling the new bearing, be careful not to overtighten the screws; the wheel should rotate smoothly and be firmly fixed to the skate frame without wobbling.
Cleaning the Inner Liner of the Skates: Figure skating and inline skating are physically demanding, and skaters tend to sweat easily. Therefore, it is essential to clean the insoles, elbow pads, and knee pads of the skates periodically. This not only eliminates odors but also extends their lifespan.
Inner Liner Cleaning Steps:
1. Place the insole in a basin of warm water.
2. Add a soaking detergent that does not require rinsing.
3. Soak overnight, then remove the skates the next day and air dry in a cool, shaded place.
4. Remember to use warm water. Soaking in cold or hot water will damage or deform the padding.
Replace Brake Pads Promptly
The braking system on the heel of the roller skates will wear out quickly with frequent use. Severe wear can cause loss of balance when braking and may even lead to brake failure. Therefore, brake pads must be replaced immediately after they are worn down.
