What Conditions Are Required For Inline Skates To Allow For Stress-free Outdoor Street Skating?

Inline skating encompasses the following disciplines and their playability: figure skating, inline hockey, inline speed skating, inline derby (block skating), inline downhill skating, inline freestyle skating (inline dance, freestyle high jump, freestyle slalom, freestyle braking), and the most common recreational activities at ice rinks.

However, in terms of discipline requirements, the wheels used in figure skating, inline hockey, inline derby, and inline speed skating (indoor specifications) are unsuitable for outdoor street skating because these disciplines typically use wheels with a hardness of 90A or higher. Using these wheels outdoors would result in a disastrous experience.

This brings us to inline skates. Why can all inline skates perform well outdoors? Because inline wheels have lower friction with the ground, and to achieve stronger grip, their wheel hardness is generally 85A or even softer.

So, what conditions must inline skates meet to perform comfortably outdoors?

First, regarding the wheels, a hardness of 78A-85A is ideal. Choose wheels with different hardnesses based on the roughness of the ground. Generally, the rougher the road surface, the lower the wheel hardness should be; the larger the wheel diameter, the stronger the road clearance!
