Walking backwards, like walking forwards, begins with a basic standing posture. The standing posture involves bending backwards at the waist, leaning slightly forward, and pointing the toes in the opposite direction to the forward stance, forming a V-shape. After becoming familiar with stepping in place, take a step backwards with a stride of about one foot's length, shifting your weight to your back foot. At this point, your ankle should be flexible, your knee slightly bent, and your arms outstretched to maintain balance.
Gliding backwards: Once you are comfortable with the backward walking posture and have sufficient stability, gradually shift your body weight backwards. Slowly, you will be able to glide backwards.
